March 30 snow storm

Yesterday I mentioned on a couple of forums about the big snow storm we had.

Well, before I share a photo of the snow, I will say that on Sunday (the day before these photos were taken) we went for a bikeride, and Sheldon even put the lawn chairs out on the patio. I wish I had taken pictures of the girls sitting out on the chairs reading their books.

On Monday, we got 32 cm of snow! What a storm for the end of March.

And...remember the lawn chairs?

Well, here they are! All that snow, fell yesterday!

Makes summer feel even farther away....

Photos to share

On Saturday, we decided to take the girls to the Sugar bush! A place just a few minutes drive from our home, where they have a farm of sap trees. It was so cool to see all the buckets collecting the sap. And we even bought a freash bottle of maple syrup! YUM!

Here are a few photos of that fun day!

My beautiful Emilee with her Jona's Brothers hat!
All the neat looking buckets on the trees. Each of these were about half full with sap!
YUM! Maple syrup poured over clean snow, then wrapped around a stick!
It got pretty muddy...
Here are all the different camps. We walked all the way to camp 4.

Wed - What's Your Title - March 25

Here's another title idea for you today!

One thing I do a lot is use the one word titles. Very simple to do and they don't take up a lot of space on the LO. One of the best things about a one word title is that you can create a big impact with it by using bigger lettering for the title.

Here are a couple of examples of LOs I created with one word titles!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So give those one word titles a try!
And here are a few for you:
Exciting news!
Today I participated in the Monique Begin competition. This is a nursing competition that takes place within the University of New Brunswick. In order to take part I had to present an abstract a few weeks ago, then prepare a 15 minute speech and power point for today. It was a big day, consisting of having lunch with the judges and a lot of people watching the contest.
There were 6 nursing students participants and I spoke of the importance of mentoring programs for novice nurses in order to increase retention rates within health care organizations.
And now the good news...
I WON FIRST PLACE! A prize of $300.00!! I was completely shocked and very excited when they said my name!!
What a fantastic way to end my nursing degree!!
Now, on to scrapping stuff.
I created a bunch of new creations for the March 15th reveal at Your Memories By Design Click HERE to see all designs by all the DT!
WED (March 18) - What's your title?
Ok, so I'm a day late with this. And I do realize that I'm behind in my blog posting. But I have a good excuse. My mom is visiting and I can't get as much time on the computer as normal. But, it's ok, because I only get to see her a couple of times a year and I enjoy every minute with her!
Here's today's (or yesterday) What's your title?
(btw, this is also posted on Scrap My Memories each week)
There are many ways to place your title on a page. One of my favorite places to put the title is around the photo. With part of the title up the side and the rest across the top. You can also use this technique around a piece of paper on your LO. I like that it works as a frame on your layout.
Here are a couple of LOs I created using this technique:
Go go ahead, give it a try and don't forget to share what you've created!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here are a few more titles to inspire you today!

~ Let the good times Roll
~ Wishful thinking
~ Young and full of life
~ (for a new graduate) A Tassle's worth the Hassle
~ I can't believe I ate the whole thing!!

Happy Scrapping!

Wed March 11 - What's your Title?

I really wanted to start some kind of inspirational post, each Wednesday, over at Scrap My Memories and I spent a lot of time trying to come up with an idea. Then yesterday it came to me.

The title is often something I have trouble coming up with, and I know for many people it's the same.

So, each Wednesday, over at Scrap My Memories I will be posting either a list of titles to inspire you, or a title challenge of some sort. (or both)

And to make it more fun, I will also post it here, on my blog!

I hope you will find it inspiring!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today, I would like to share with you a fun technique for title that I use quite often.
I love to use long titles but hate to use up all my bigger letters and take up a lot of space on the page. So, what I do is use my big letters for the main words, and my smaller (MM mini letter stickers) for the smaller words. You can also handwrite the smaller words, use rubons, used computer journaling, or stamps.
This technique can also be used for cards.
Here's an example of a couple of LOs I created using this technique. (please forgive me if you've seen these before)
For this LO I used Jillibean Soup letters for the word "Friends" and my MM mini letter stickers for the rest of the title.
In this LO, I used rubons for most of the title words, and American Craft Thickers for the word "love".
And before I sign off, here are a few examples of long titles that you might be inspired by, don't be scared to try them.
~ Friends are like bras....close to your heart & there for support
~ Let me see that smile
~ May All Your Dreams Be Filled With Bling!
~ Kindergarten is a wonderful feeling
Don't forget to leave me a comment to let me know if you've used this idea.
New Challenge blog
I found a new little challenge blog today. Rae, from Create My Keepsake posted about her new challenge blog called Use It Challenges.
Each week she will be presenting a challenge to use our stash.
This week the challenge was simple.
♦Dig through your stash and use one of your FAVORITE papers♦
♦use something (anything) that you have NEVER used before♦
♦use some ribbon♦
♦use a button♦
I created a card, and here it it.
I made this card for my neighbours. They had a new baby girl 1 month ago and I thought it would be cute to give her a 1 month 'birthday' card.
I used pp I love (BG)
For the item I've never used, I pulled out 3-4 year old Glitter Glaze from Li'l Davis Designs(I used it in the middle of the circle inside the flower petals.
I used a ribbon bow
...and one button.
Thanks for looking and thanks Rae for this challenge.
Photos from home
Since I got back from NL, I've been pretty busy. I'm just now starting to get back on track with things I need to do both in my 'normal life' and my 'scrappy life' lol.
I do have one more week before I start preceptorship though, which is a good thing. And yesterday I created my study schedule for the RN exam coming up on June 3rd. I realized yesterday that there's only 12 weeks until that date, and I started to panic. Making up a schedule helped to ease the panic a little. I plan on studying one topic each week, then the final two weeks before I will use for review.
The hotel room in Fredericton is booked for the night before and I'll be sharing the room with a great study buddy! Although we don't really plan on doing much studying the night before. We'll probably just relax in the hot tub, and veg out for the evening.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok, so back to the whole point of this post. I wanted to share some photos of my trip home. There's a lot of them but I'll try not to make this too photo heavy!

My weekend away and SMM March kit reveal

Good afternoon everyone. I'm writing this blog post from Newfoundland. And what a fun weekend I had with friends and family.

I arrived here very early Friday am, and just 7-8 hours after my arrival I was heading to Riverwood Inn for an amazing scrapbooking get away. Here's a picture of the room ROOM where Deanne, Carla, and I stayed!

We scrapped from about 4:00 Friday afternoon, until today at 11:00. With a few hours sleep in there (but not much). It was so much fun to get to sit with my sisters, laugh with them, and scrap with them. This is something we've NEVER had a chance to do. We even did a fun challenge, that we will sharing in the coming weeks on our Sisterhood Blog. I created 11 layouts which will be shared in the coming weeks as well.

I am tired now, but so relaxed too. What an amazing way to end my 7 years of schooling and to celebrate.
